A 63-year-old Oklahoma woman had moved into her apartment and had been living in it for six months. About 3 weeks ago, she heard a huge noise. A pipe burst in the ceiling of her rented apartment, causing damage to her furniture and other household stuff. She has had to move out of her apartment.
She does not have tenant insurance aka renter insurance. She and her family are demanding the property management company to pay for damages. The property management company is not commenting on this case but did say that the property insurance will cover the damage to the property but not any harm to tenant’s property.
Who knows whether this could lead to unnecessary litigation a situation that could have been easily avoided?
