Property Management Software
Many hotel companies fail to collect and optimize customer data. This is often associated with the lack of data integration and data support within properties and between multiple properties. Hotels accumulate a huge amount of data through their Property Management Systems (PMS) and Centralized Reservation Systems (CRS). By analyzing the existing data embedded in these systems, managers should be able to support strategic decision making, design effective marketing campaigns, reward high-value customers and monitor employee productivity. However, most hotel operators are unaware of the wealth of data – both customer related and management – that is available within the software that they use every day (see figure 1).
Property Management Software Data Flow
Your Property Management System (PMS) is the central data infra-structure of your hotel; nonetheless, this data is not always “visible” and requires a level of investment in interfaces and communication infra-structure. To fully maximize the benefits of the PMS data, different data sources must be linked, i.e. the PMS, CRS and relevant data sources. Also critical is the data access and data sharing that allows a full picture of data content to be revealed to the critical decision makers.
We are conducting a survey to investigate the sources of data, determine the integrity of this data and examine how the data are effectively used in both operational and strategic decision making. These results will be shared with you along with “best practice” examples from the hotel sector.
