Canada’s median home prices have been increasing, and multiple offers are common on houses. The number of properties on sale is down, which is putting even more upward pressure on house prices. Of course, this is great news for sellers but not so great news for first time homebuyers. The low interest rates and long loan amortization periods are driving the surge in prices.

It seems that the Canadian real estate market is going through similar increases as experienced by the US market. Politicians including the Prime Minister are dismissing the bubble fear with the view that the Canadian lenders have been more conservative. Some of the economists are hoping that the market stabilizes and increases slow down.

If the bubble bursts, will Canadians stop buying in Arizona and Florida?
