2010 Best Cities for Families - Real Estate Property

Business Week teamed up with OnBoard Informatics a New York based provider of real estate data to list 3 towns from each of the 50 states to come up with a list of best cities to raise kids. The criteria for the towns to be in the running were a minimum population of 45,000 and median income of $40000 and $125000. The only state where the population criteria was relaxes was Vermont as none of its cities has a population of more than 45000. The other data used to determine the winners was school performance, number of schools, household expenditures, crime rates, air quality, job growth, family income, museums, parks, theaters, other amenities and diversity. The three criteria that were given the most weights to come up with the list were affordability, safety and school test scores.

Some of the cities that made the list are: Dothan, Alabama; Tucson, Arizona; Springdale, Arkansas; Arcadia, California; Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
