If a tenant’s lease information has been entered already, SimplifyEm allows you to “Allocate” the rent payments that you enter on the worksheet. This means you can easily reconcile between the received payments, and the payments you should have received – all according to the lease that you have set up.
The “Allocate” feature gets to be real handy when you are dealing with late rents, partial payments, and payments that you forgive. As you record rent payments received from a tenant on the worksheet, you will come across the following Allocate Windows in SimplifyEm:
1. If you enter a partial rent payment, more than the rent amount, or if there is an overdue rent on the worksheet for that tenant row, SimplifyEm will ask how you would like to allocate the rents received. This is the window that comes up:

2. If you Edit rent allocations, you will see this window:

To edit the rent allocations that were done, follow these steps:
1. Select the rent transaction cell that has been allocated and needs to change.
2. Click on the “Edit Transaction” icon to open the “Record Rent” window.

3. Click on the Allocate/Edit Allocate link next to the transaction you want to edit the allocations for.

4. You will now see the “Allocate Rent” window for your rent transaction. On this window, you can now check or uncheck against the rent amount due for that rent period and save it.

Nice level of information here. There is so much data around about this subject that sometimes you cannot see the wood for the trees but you have pitched this at just the right level so that the lay person can understand – thank you!
